Chocolate VS Acne

Many people say that when you eat too much chocolate it results to acne. This has never been proven. The truth is, there is no evidence that proved this to be generally true. The same is true with other food-acne myth like French fries, candy, soda, or potato chips.

The Australian Broadcasting Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki said that one of the reasons for chocolate-acne myth is the rumor link between high fat chocolate and fatty oil called sebum. Sebum blocks skin ducts and causes acne, or “zits”. However, in reality, oil has nothing to do with chocolate.

The real cause of acne is an accumulation of dead cells in the pores, excess skin oil (known as sebum) and a proliferation of acne bacteria. None of these factors are triggered by the food we consume.

However, If a food seems to cause more pimples for you, avoid eating that food. But remember, there was no direct link between a specific food to the establishment of the buttons. Go ahead and enjoy that piece of chocolate or order of chips (in moderation, of course). Your skin will be no worse for the next day.

It’s not the chocolate or french fries that you always worry about; consider your diet as a whole and avoid some foof that cause the zits.
